The LEM Series Intercoms are the most basic of the so
called "Open Voice" units. Only one master unit, the LEM-1 (Single Call)
or the LEM-3 (3-Call) can be used on a system. |

The LEM-1 is a single call master unit that can sit
on a desk or be wall mounted. It is usually located where power is available
and where it is desired to be able to audibly call the slave unit and
have the remote person be able to communicate to you hands-free. If the
Master Operator desires to speak with the remote person, he simply turns
the unit on by pressing the "Talk" button and continues to hold the button
while he is speaking. When he releases the button he can now hear the
remote or slave unit.
If the person at the slave unit desires to speak to the Master, he presses
the "Call" button which will produce a tone at the Master which will get
the attention of the Master Operator at which time he presses the "Talk"
button and communicates with the remote. When the conversation is complete,
the "Off" button is pressed and the master unit will be silent.

The LEM-3 is the three call version of the above. Up
to three individual slave units can be talked to, one at a time. There
are additional buttons to select the slave that is desired to talk to.
The unit can listen to one of the three slave locations by pressing the
appropiate station number button. If he desired to speak to the remote
slave, he presses the talk button while speaking and releases to hear.
If one of the slaves calls the master, a tone will sound and a LED indicator
will light above the button corresponding to that location. At that time,
the operator will press the appropiate button below the illuminated LED
and proceed to talk to the slave unit. When the conversation is complete,
the "Off" button is pressed and the master unit will be silent.
Two conductor (1-pair) wire runs from each slave unit (Shown below) to
the LEM-3. Power requirements is 6VDC 200ma Regulated. |

| The LE-A is a indoor slave unit that is used with the
Aiphone LEM Series and other Aiphone systems. It can sit on a desk or
be wall mounted. It has a single momentary "Call" push-button which is
used only to signal the person at the Master Unit. After which the conversation
is hands-free. |

| The LE-D is a outdoor version of the LE-A. It has a
weatherproof speaker and it much more compact. It is a surface mounted
unit suitable to be mounted next to an extry door. It can be used in this
fashion as a doorbell and a way to inquire who is at the door. |
